When to use it

Formula
Reading time = words ÷ reading speedDefault 238 wpm (slow 150, fast 350).
Speaking time = words ÷ 140 wpmWorked example
Given: A 2,000-word article
- Silent reading: 2,000 ÷ 238 ≈ 8.4 minutes.
- Read aloud: 2,000 ÷ 140 ≈ 14.3 minutes.
Result: About 8–9 minutes to read, 14 to present.
Reading the result
- Technical material often reads at half the usual speed.
